Chiave di lettura per la comprensione dell’opera di Antonio Rotondò, questa raccolta traccia lo scenario dell’incontro ideale con le ricerche di Richard H. Popkin. I contributi offrono spunti di ricerca che spaziano da aspetti specifici dell’ebraistica cristiana di età moderna al ruolo dello scetticismo nel processo fondativo di un’etica laica, dalla diffusione dello spinozismo che innerva i decenni cruciali tra la fine del ’600 e l’inizio del ’700, fino alla teorizzazione politica e alla codificazione giuridica della tolleranza.
The purpose of these volumes is to give a contribution to the synthetic understanding of Antonio Rotondò’s activity as a historiographer, as well as the possibility of an ideal merging of his work with Richard H. Popkin’s research. The essays provide a variety of researches, ranging from specific aspects of Christian Hebrew studies in the modern age to the role of sceptic trends in the foundation of secular ethics. At the same time, a primary focus would be from the spreading of Spinozism, which constitutively enters the crucial decades from the late seventeenth and the early eighteenth centuries, up to the political theorization and juridical coding of toleration.
